Sorry been out of the country for a couple weeks now and have not had the time to post up what I found.

I did a compression test and found my #1 cyl was only pushing 90 PSI as the other 5 were getting around 150 PSI. My check engine light only showes one code and that is for the #1 Cyl misfire. So if I'm right I think I have a bad valve seal.

Should I just go swap my head out with a new rebuilt or should I just repair the valve seal.

I have the cash for a new head. The motor has 240k on it.

Well, until the others chime in....the valve stem seal only seals oil. For compression the head of the valve seating in the seat is where compression is an issue. Usually an exhaust will fail first cause of the nasty environment. A "wet" test is when you put a couple tablespoons of oil in the cylinder and see if the compression shoots up. Stays near the same, valve issue, goes up, something with the rings.

Ok... I will give the wet test a shot.


another think I forgot to say it that I have some unexplained coolant loss. That makes me believe a head gasket is gone or a crack in the head as well. But the oil still looks good and not no milky brown color.
