Misinformation is a PROBLEM
Oh my Jesus this turned from argument to BS to TOTAL BS. I'm logging out and never returning again. I don't care if the blinker bulb burns out cuz all I'm gonna get off here is check your grounds, use diesel oil, dump seafoam down the light socket and check the front end for the 72 different causes of death wobble.
I am so over this forum. I'll just return to my LS1 forum where they talk about how their genitalia is so much bigger than the next guy's

We have huge pines here, too. Everybody thinks Arizona is sand, cactus and coyotes.

Yep, I'm defiantly guilty of that. Pictured you standing there by a big cactus, probably wearing some silly hat! (Squinty eye, with Dy-electric grease, and contact cleaner in your holsters, slung low)

Here's a text book example of the type of thing I'm talking about.
OP says "No start, no click".
First suggestion?
"Replace your ignition cylinder".

I hate seeing those who seek help get sent on wild goose chases.

When I spotted your post this morning I thought, “Man, is this guy going to get flamed”, because I’ve found that criticism (even constructive criticism) isn’t taken very well on this and other forums.
I think that rather than blaming people for trying to help we should suggest that the inexperienced questioners should spend a half-hour searching this and other forums and Googling for possible fixes for their problem. That’s what I do. I copy/paste all of the possible fixes into a Word doc then print it and take it out to the garage, then start with the simplest easy to do ones first. I’ve learned this the hard way because, like a lot of guys I tend to start out in left field and end up in the bleachers before my dad’s words from 50 years ago come back to me, “Will, always start with the simplest, dumbest thing first”.

Well, first, I'm not concerned in the slightest bit about being flamed by any keyboard warriors. I've been very active on automotive forums for over 10 years now, I know the ins and outs and I know that a lot of people don't care for rational debate, they just want to look tough by attacking the odd man out. That's fine, it doesn't affect me, so just let them do their thing and the rest of us can actually discuss the topic.
Second, if anyone took the time to read my original post, you'd see that I'm not trying to attack anyone for simply sharing advice. In fact, I'm not trying to attack anyone at all.
What I AM trying to do, however, is point out that there are a lot of people on this forum who think they know more than they actually do.
My point was that if you're going to be giving out advice, you should probably know what you're talking about.
When people post misinformation, it makes this forum look stupid. It really does. Of all of the great information around here, the MISINFORMATION is what will be recognized by outsiders.
On the other automotive forums I'm on, I have mentioned Cherokeeforum, and a lot of those guys have told me "That place is a joke, they don't know what they're talking about, I wouldn't waste your time."
If you guys really don't think that's a problem, then I guess

troubleshooting is a lost art and something that has to be taught or self learned. we're in the google age, some guys/gals hit up forums/google first (guilty here) before doing some type of diagnosis themselves, which is kinda sad. 20 years ago, what would some of these guys with -insert common problem here- have done? take it to someone who understands what they're doing, right? now i guess it just the same thing but with waaaay more people involved, and digital. and with way more people comes all of those peoples opinions and experience. now i guess you just gotta be a pro at sifting out all the bs to get the answer you want.
