Where can I get a stock mechanical fan or is there a better replacement?

NAPA for the fan clutch. They carry stock XJ and heavy duty/Grand Cherokee units. Just bear in mind the heavy duty is going to make a tad loud whoosh sound.

I did the KJ fan clutch upgrade and mine isn't that much louder. It really does pull quite a bit more air through though. My XJ hardly ever hits 210 at all now.

Good question. I've never seen the metal fan sold by itself unless the dealer can get it. Or unbolt one from a scrapyard XJ. Probably cost you $5.
There are aftermarket fan blade assemblies like FlexALite, but IMHO they are junk. Noisy, don't cool as well.

JY would probably be your best bet. I have 2 extras sitting in the parts pile, if you can't find one I'd send you one for the cost of shipping.

Is that a typo? I've never heard of using the fan clutch from a KJ.

What is the diameter of the stock mechanical fan? Looks like the shroud is just over 16".

Why not just go to an electric fan? It won't rob power from the engine as much.

You can use any fan. Just by switching the terminals you can the direction of the fan. I use two stock xj fans, one hooked to ignition and another to a switch. Just one cools it unless its 100 degrees outside then I need the second. My jeep doesn't really go over 200 degrees. In have an aftermarket temp gauge so I know its correct.
