a 231J is a 231J just need to check the input shaft spline count. I have one form a 92 but its going to cost you as much to ship as its worth.

I'm in the market for one (maybe...depends on if it's an adjustment issue or a T Case issue)...and in my research here..

231 is the Transfer Case.

Has the # of splines based on the year (21 or 23)...

However, the J in the end is for Jeep...and as someone mentioned here, the 'same' transfer case in a Chevy would end in C or Dodge in D...and the bolt up to the trans will probably be different.

i would just source a junkyard or a guy off craigslist that is selling a cherokee for parts. you are sure to find one for a few hundred bucks, and while it is out might as well put a SYE kit on it.

Good, by the way the Chevy is a passenger side drop so it will not work.

You could take the internals from a Dodge case and swap them into your existing Jeep case if it is not damaged. Not sure if the Chevy internals are the same or not though.
