No - oil pressure is an indication of bearing integrity (if everything else is working properly). If you have 10 PSI oil pressure before you install a different filter you haven't solved any problems. That's kind of like breaking your leg, taking percocet to ease the pain, then declaring "it doesn't hurt anymore - leg's fine now"

Now... if you have a junk filter on there that has either collapsed or blown apart, that's a different story.

True but your missing the point. I did not state that this would fix anything. My GC has only 4psi and oil is barely making it to the rockers because the worn bearings are causing most of the oil volume to be bled off. A low restrictive filter will help to get just a little more volume to the top of the engine.

Oh, I see what you mean now. Yes I suppose that could have the desired effect... 4 PSI is "fix me" worthy though, like dumping in a bunch of STOP-LEAK instead of fixing a radiator. It could get you a month or two until you can afford the repair I guess. I just don't want to see someone with 20 PSI at hot idle try this thinking that there's a problem that should be addressed with a less effective filter.

I only use Mopar filters on my 2 XJs, soon to be 3 and I only use K&N on the wife's liberty.

they are not all created equally. Take for example the MINI cooper. The aftermarket filters for those do not perform. The filters look the same but will keep throwing an oil pressure light. Put a factory filter in and the problem is resolved. On the new MINI Coopers the after market filters collapse which will cause oil starvation to the turbocharger frying it. So you guys choose as you like but I will stay with factory filters for my vehicles.

Don't use AC. They can split, apparently.

List of Junk oil Filters for your jeep 4.0-forumrunner_20121214_205915.jpg

~$30 Oil Change

$15.37 for oil
$13.99 for filter

Forget those $25 deals at the parts store or worse the $20 oil change from a shop.

Nah, HP-2004 is the same as M1-204. It's an OEM-sized Mobil 1 filter with about a $3 nut

Curious though - why one of the best filters on the market with one of the cheapest oils?

Castrol GTX made my '87's engine rattle. Castrol is what Walmart used in it. (It was away from me. My daughter had it.)

When I got it back, I drained the Walmart Castrol out and put Mobil 1 back in, with a Wix filter.

Quietened back down.

Yea I'd rather have some grip than that "nut".

I'll check level in the morning.

Is it that bad? Been fine for me. Was better looking last 3 oil changes than previous used Pennzoil, Valvoline.

I though about grabbing Mobil 1 but then I seen super Mobil 1 I think. Couldn't make up my mind. Grabbed castrol. Lol.

Maybe next time.
