on youtube somewhere a guy cut open filters that were new to show ya the cardboard bypass valves in some and how little or badly the filter elements were as well as some with really bad cases. one of the filters, name brand. had a huge gap in the element thus allowing unfiltered oil to go thru it. I would post them here if I had time, maybe later.

Wix is a good compromise between filter efficiency and flow and probably the best choice. However, if you are suffering from extremely low oil pressure the purolator has less pressure drop across the filtering media and will boost your pressure a bit. If your looking for the least restrictive filter on the market it is Denso (Toyota OEM) I guess Toyota is more concerned about flow rather than small micron particles getting through.

So, if you change your oil frequently, like every 3,000 miles, you could use a Napa Silver. Normal intervals, Gold, and extended intervals, Platinum. Correct?

What is everyone's thought on the Mopar 090 filter? Normally everyone on here worships Mopar, but I have not seen many mentions of their filter in this thread?

So if I'm reading these posts right a high filtration filter causes a pressure drop? And a low filtration filter causes a pressure rise? So I'm assuming the pressure is measured after the filter instead of before it?

No one said that it would restore bearings. If you have low pressure because of worn bearings a low restriction filter may give you an edge up in pressure. The delta P varies depending on brand.

Would it be the same on a 94 4.0? I ask because I put a Purolator Classic on at the last oil change(concerned about flow restriction with the PureOne) and I'm getting about a 10 psi higher reading(yes...on the gauge. I know. I know. Work with me here). PLus it's cold here <40 degrees in the morning.
Does anybody use Baldwins?
