yes you should weld it together, just make sure that you clean everything with brake parts cleaner so nothing will catch fire when you weld it, i have an 89 with 33s welded and rock crawl with it and have not broke it yet, just remember once you weld it you can't take it back apart when it does or if it does break

i vote for the weld if its off road only. I think welded on the road in snow would be slightly sketchy, but welded off road in snow is the way to do it. and stock cherokee axles are pretty cheap if you decide you really hate it you can swap one in.

Hey Jon I "Locked" both my Jeep J20 and my Blazer (full size) front and back and it was awesome 4 wheeling but street driving broke lots of axles (even the 3/4 ton J20) GO FOR IT...Tj

i say go for it as long as you have a way to haul your rig to the trail and not drive it on the road. that can be dangerous and costly.
Where you headed to or can you say?

Go for it. I loved being welded. Even on the street it was fine except in the rain or light snow. Just have to be easy on the gas pedal in the light snow and rain or you will end up facing the other direction.
