So, I have a '94 XJ with a 3" AAL lift. I want to go to 5" total, I just scored a deal on some 2" rear shackles. and I plan on fabbing up my own front spacer, and fabbing up a three or four link. So, my questions are, Can I use '96 grand cherokee brake lines as they are 16.25", and the stock XJ's are 14.5"?
Also, I've heard about using a yoke off a YJ instead of a SYE? is this for real? and does anyone know the details of this YJ yoke add on?
Thanks,
J

yes it is true, you can use a YJ slip yoke for your XJ. im pretty sure its like an inch or two longer which makes up for the lost gap u get when you do a TC drop and shims when your lift your XJ. as far as the brake lines go. i would know. your better of just getting a set of braided lines off the net. quadretec.com has a good selection that wont break your wallet. good luck and post pics on your build. ill be watching this thread.

Yes. You just substitute the YJ yoke for your own and gain about 1/2" in yoke length and more usable angle on the drive shaft. I's cheap to do. However, you are going to use shackles on your rear springs which will change your pinion angle which will probably make your driveline vibrate unless you drop your transfer case.

So what do you do, just install the YJ slip yoke, on the output to the rear drive shaft? and I take it the only thing it does is add a couple of inches?
Sorry for all the dumb questions.

Yes, I already have 1" TC drop installed. Also, will my shocks bo ok?

So, I'm looking for a slip yoke from a YJ, and I came across a guy on craigs list that is parting out his YJ. He sent me a pic and the slip yoke looks short and it's attached to a very short drive shaft. Is the one on the top the one that I want?
Thanks,
J

you already have a 4 link, do you mean longarms?
if so 16.25" brake hoses are way too short. i run 26" hoses for my longarms with the hard line straightened out and mounted lower and I come close to maxing them out.
your money is better spent on an sye and front shaft. if you have a d44 or 8.25 in back and an automatic tranny (like 80% of xj's) you can run a stock front shaft in the rear and only have to carry one spare shaft. yj yoke is slightly longer and only makes your driveshaft less likely to fall out, still a good chance you will get some driveline vibrations
