A couple months ago I changed the brakes in my 99 cherokee. No noises or issues on the drive home from my dad's shop where I did them. The next day I drove to a property where I play in the mud and ride my dirtbike and noticed a slight knocking noise when I was braking hard. I beat the jeep around in the mud for a while and on the drive home there was a knocking or grinding noise every time I hit a bump or hit the brakes. It slows down with the rotation of the wheels. I've been researching for a while but can't find anyone who had the same problem. I checked the steering, ball joints, driveshaft, ujoints, changed the front diff. oil. Anyone have the same problem? Any help is welcome

 

You said you checked everything but the brakes...maybe you should check those?

 

Yes. The common rule is that whenever you hear a new noise right after performing work, double check the work that has just been done.

 

The rotors are ok. What should I look out for on the calipers, just check for play?
