Exclamation Knocking/clucking sound under driverside floor.

Help new knocking sound under driverside. What could this be there is clucking noise like somebody in knocking at me. Seems like it happens when I break and when I accelerate from a stop. Should I keep driving it like this till I fix it or no.

Get under there and start shaking and prying look for anything that has play (or is ripping off) does your vehicle pull to one side or another when you brake?

2 things sounded like that when they wore out on me, at different times.

Trans mount. I put a bar and pryed up tranny, it was obvious the rubber was seperated from mounting plate.

Upper trac bar joint. Grab the bar up by mount and push it up and down, should no movement.

The exhaust is on the other side but could be lose and causing sounds like that.Get under it and look for rub marks and clean parts.

Check everything like the last poster said his upper track bar mount was the cause. Check your controller arms, drive shafts, transmission mount, u joints, ball joints, (your follower should have zero play). Look for any joint/mount that the bushings are bad or that have excessive play

Had some noises when I first got this Jeep - turned out it was a bad U-joint and a driveshaft that was every so slightly bent.

How long have you had this XJ?

I know its on the other side of the Jeep, but I had a similar sounding issue that turned out to be the exhaust hitting the cross member- the rubber hanger broke and the exhaust wasn't supported properly.
