Keys on, no power to anything.
Iike stated in the title, I can turn the key on and I have no power to anything. My fuel pump doesn't prime, no lights in the dash, and it won't crank. I turn the key and absolutely nothing happens? Has anyone else had this issue? It's an 87 xj automatic. This damn thing is like herpes... It keeps acting up, but I can't get rid of the damned thing

hmmm
battery good?
battery connections tight?
is there a "main" fuse in the power distribution box?
faulty ignition switch?
without the key in the ignition switch... do the headlight even come on when you turn them on?
seems it would be easiest to start from the battery and work your way out probing for power...
im still brand new to the jeep world.. so i am just stating generic tips.. nothing from experience with that specific model

Battery is good. I tested that. All the battery connections are tight. I have power to the headlights, taillights, and even the instrument panel lights come on, but none of the typical idiot lights that come on when you turn the key on. No fuel pump whining. It's like it has no power to anything ignition/starting system related.

The ignition switch on top of the column likes to burn up, in some cases you will have to rebuild part of the harness.
If you can get topsy turvy with a "BRIGHT" flashlight you do not have to drop the column to look and see if it's burnt
A new switch is about 18$ and about 20-40min of your time.

Thank you guys. That does make sense. Because it just stopped working with no warning yesterday. It drove just fine the day before then went to go to work yesterday and found no power. It made me sad because I had to drive my ranger:/ I hate this good gas mileage, 2 wheel drive truck. Haha. It's too boring.

Luckily I work for a shop so i get an awesome discount on parts from O'Reilly. Not to mention I seem to single handedly keep the need for replacement jeep parts here in gig harbor. With a stack of 20+ recipts in my glove box. Haha

Nothing so far. I still have to get under the column down. I just got home late last night and it was starting to freeze so i didn't get very far. The jeep is just a hair too tall to fit in the garage with the roof rack. I have Sunday's off luckily so i can get to it then.
