x2 on the DO NOT PULL BY YOUR SWAY BAR!!!! first of they are barely grade 5 bolts.. second once you do that you weaken the unibody by ripping big ol' holes in the frame.... Seen one rip off before... Not pretty....
on the installing the hitch thing... like posted above, doable in thick mud that has some substance to it, not doable in watery swampy mud....
but it is a good option.
second option is the axle.
best option is get someone with a winch

i was just about to put up those pics 96 put up. Lift the vehicle from the bumper at the mounts/get the highlift wheel attachment deal, that lifts from the wheel itself. and pull the wheel out. Then stick something under the wheel to keep it from going back in. Then pull from the frame in the listed spots above..

Seriously, it's not the greatest idea but it was the only choice i had other than to pull from the axle. I was halve way up a waterfall and got stuck and was not making it anywhere. There was no going back or forward. I am surprised how strong it was.

In about eight hours im getting a huge lifted yj from the jeep club to come pull me out. thanks for all your advice. it looks like im pulling from the rear because the front end is just a lil past the bumper in mud and water. i do have a hitch already on there so try that first if that fails then it will be the axle. I am just going to dig and dig, shove some running boards under the wheels and jack the back end up and slowly pull. im not so sure the jeep is gunna start. so any suggestions on what to do once i get it out.?? I will post pictures of this on here once i get it out... so everybody can see LMFAO!!

Wow. First sign of a losing argument when someone resorts to name calling. So childish, lolz.
You're in Jersey. I'm surprised at you. I don't think I have posted any pic where your solution would work. And if you read the title of the thread, chances are it wouldn't work for him either. Besides, if he had a hitch to install, I'd like to think he'd install it before he went wheeling.
Nothing like a golden opportunity ...
Hey guys, let's go mudding so I can install my hitch!

Anyway, to the OP, whatever you do, be careful. Stuck as bad as you seem to be, anything can happen during the recovery. And post pics of the Jeep now while it's still stuck. Who wants to see "after" pics?

End it, your thoughts are illogical and one sided.

Going wheeling without recovery points is like an 18 year old girl at a frat house. You may get away with it a few times, but eventually your gonna be ****ed.
The reciever hitch is my recovery point in the rear, along with a shackle thing that slides inside, saved myself numerous times... Its plenty strong enough for any tug, as long as its in place securely.

first post says no recovery points but then you said you have a hitch? thats an oxymoron...
get a tow/recovory strap if you dont have one already and put the loop into the receiver and the pin for the receiver trhough the loop and put in the cotter pin and tada you are set for tuggin and pullin
