Default I've got a strange problem... assistance required.

So I have a 98 xj, and today it started doin something very umm strange. When I take a left turn and get in the throttle while turning... the thing falls on its face. I am stumped, going to rent a fuel pressure gauge today to see if that has anything to do with it.

And how fast are you taking these corners? If you don't know when the fuel filter was last replaced it wouldn't hurt to start there.

Lol Half tank... fuel gauge was the first thing I looked at. Pressure test done, takes three cycles of the key to get it to 49. When I start it holds at 49 but the instant I shut it off it drops to about 8.....

I'm not sure, bu if theres a Fuel Pressure Regulator, it could be bad.

How can I figure out if im loosing my pressure through the injectores or the fuel pressure regulator... Does anyone think either of these two things could be my problem?

Not sure. I have also heard of some "check valve" going bad, but i think that leads to having to go - key on, key off - a few times before it starts. I kow its fuel related though sot may be that thing too...sorry im not more help!

Haha its all good... I swapped out the fuel pump cured it all, so far. And just to let y'all know the fuel pump in a 98 xj actually says zj right on the pump lol

If you have that problem in the future you can pinch the fuel line to the tank after you cycle the switch to build fuel pressure. That can help isolate what might be bad. If the pressure stays when pinching then you are closer to isolating the problem.

Yeah that makes sense... but the pressure was dropping so fast that I wouldn't be able to pinch it in time.. but I'll definitely do that the next time. Thanks
