Intake- Best bang for buck?
I have a 2000 Cherokee Sport w/ 4.0 engine and I want to put a cold air intake in. In your opinion, what is the best one for the money? Also, if you know a better way to add horsepower, please explain. Thanks

Sam....asked same question awhile ago....the consensus was that they all do some good with more power and better gas mileage. Some are more....MUCH more expensive with little improvement over ones half the cost. Your going to half to just jump in and pick one. Alot will depend on your budget. Good Luck.

its almost not worth buying the cai. (cold air intake) because one they are freaking expensive and your only going to gain about 7 to 10 horses and 2 they sometimes make funny noises. but you should definatly get a new muffler it dont add much power but your throttle seems a bit more responsive i got a magnaflow from advanced ato for 90 bucks. and it lets your xj breath a little better cause your getting rid of all the back pressure.

Get a new muffler and save that money get a drop in high flow airbox filter and a bored out throttle body. If you plan on wheenlin your XJ you dont want a Cone filter 1) dust will eat it and 2) they more exposed for water so hydrolock is possible...ask me how I know.
BTW i dig my glasspack

Your best bang for the buck is leaving it stock. That's the plain and simple truth. If you're concerned about cost, you're barking up the wrong tree. Probably the best way to get more HP out of these engines is to build a stroker that increases the displacement. You can also play with the compression and fuel type for more HP with a new stroker build.

A tube and filter style CAI is contradictory to it's name. The plain tube and filter CAI sucks HOT air from the engine bay. The more expensive types have a panel that separate the filter from the engine bay (for the most part) but I don't see these as being much better than stock. A true "cold Air Intake" is a snorkel that draws air from outside of the vehicle.
A throttle body spacer on a direct injected vehicle is money wasted. You would be better off to get a bored throttle body and better flowing exhaust.
