Yep, I have used them on several occasions. They show the 4.0 for my 87 at about 2300 bucks.

Default 4.0 engine rebuild

I had a local engine machine shop rebuild my 4.0 and it cost me about $1400.00. The motor runs great but I would of built a 4.7 had I known that it could be done.

I talked to them today, they seem great for a stock engine, but they said they didn't do a stroked one for our inline.

Couple shops I've talked to said it costs close to the same to take your existing motor out and have it stroked as it does to buy one of the well built kits. Might be a wash either way.

I'd like to pull my 4.0, drop in a stroked 4.7L, and then sell my engine. I think I would only be back about 4K or so once I sold my stock engine. We'll see though.

How about a 5.7L Hemi? Is that a possible swap for the Cherokee?

It looks like when my 4.0 gives up the ghost my XJ is getting a 4.7. Not a bad price IMHO to keep her on the road.

I wonder if that engine would be a good replacement for my 4.0 in my old 87? Shouldn't be an issue should it? The link shows 91 through 98.

Does anyone have numbers for the power/torque that the Mopar 4.7 put out? Or even a dyno chart mebbe?

Here it is below:

"Mopar will also introduce a new 4.7-liter I-6 Stroker long block, a powerful upgrade for the 4.0-liter I-6 made famous in Jeep vehicles built from 1991-2006. Because off-road enthusiasts appreciated the dependability and performance of the previous 4.0-liter engine, Mopar developed a more powerful engine that delivers an expected 265 hp and 290 lb.-ft of torque. The engine will fit in any Jeep vehicle previously equipped with the 4.0-liter I-6 engine."
