I just bought a long block from Checker. They use ATK. It was 1500. Put it in it runs great. I think they were going to offer the stroked motor too.

Wait, who is this, Checker that offer's this? It's about $1500 more at a dealership, so what's the difference between these other than price? Also, anyone installed a stroker in their Cherokee, Wrangler, etc? Since these are relatively new, I am just curious if anyone has installed one and if they think the pwr and torque gains are worth it?

I don't know the exact prices. the only ones I know of are MOPAR built engines and sold by Chrysler.

considering you can build a 4.7L Stroker for less than half the price of what they want the gains/cost benefit isn't so great. Esspecially considering that for cheaper yet you can install a SBC 350 for even cheaper and easily more power...

So you can put an SBC 350 Chevy V8 into a jeep Cherokee? How do you know? I figured it would be too heavy for a cherokee's body.

How do I know? its pretty much common knowledge that a 350 SBC is one of, ifnot the most common engine to swap into an XJ.

I'm sorry if I sounded like I didn't trust you. I do, I'm just new to this. So, you purchase the SBC 350, and what else do you have to purchase? Will it mate to everything in my 2001 Cherokee? Please educate me on this. Who should install it for me, dealer(Chevy, Jeep), a shop? I'm considering it, so please let me know what you think. Thank you.

Its all good. I wouldn't pay a shop to do it...much too expensive. I don't know the ins and outs of whats needed to get gauges and wiring harnesses working but I do know that you can buy an adapter kit for the transmission and that re-building your NP231/242 would be a smart choice while in the process.

So what's the difference other than almost a $1K between these two if they are both ATK?

I'm just trying to learn here? And what's the difference between these and the Checker stroker? Who has done these, and please give your opinions. Thx.

Mopar has forged internals, ported heads, and possibly a different crank
