Will someone identify a part for me please. It's not mounted anymore but is plugged into the wiring harness. I could probably figure it out but this is the easy way,

Looks like it too me, its suppose to be mounted on the side of your transmission. Is that where you found it, up in the engine bay?

Thanks guys. It was an automatic the was converted to standard before I bought it.
I suppose it should be mounted on the transmission somewhere.
At the risk of sounding stupid.
Where?

Maybe it was left connected so the computer wouldn't through codes?
And nope no backup lights.

I would like to say wow to the OP. The PO definitely left you with a fun bag of presents, almost like santa except not cool like. I would say look at a haynes or chiltons manual about the nss for manuals. I don't have a stick but I know it throws codes like crazy if it gets muddy as I cleaned mine off about 6 months ago. Start by checking the manual, then hopefully someone with a stick will chime in.

Good luck, Im following this one.

Thats a Nss for the auto transmission.
They left it hooked up so you dont get codes and the jeep will start.
