Ok so i bought this 96 jeep cherokee, about two weeks ago. Its got 129k on it. Since i have had it, it seems to have a shake at idle. So i have changed the cap, rotor, spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, cleaned the iac, sea foamed the gas tank and throttle bottle. Still to no affect. AS IM BATTLING THIS TODAY WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 THE HEEP IS AT 2K RPM, OUT OF NO WERE IT JUMPS TO 2600 RPMS, SO I TRY TO PUNCH IT SEEING MAYBE A HICK UP AND NOTICE THAT WHEN DOING THAT INSTEAD OF GOING TO DOWN SHIFT IT SEEMS TO LIKE UP SHIFT? Rpms go from 25 down to 2k? The bad thing is it kept doing it all day. IM SO FRUSTRATED! I just came back from over seas been wanting a jeep, though not these problems. Im not sure if i should get rid of her because of all the problems or try to fix her while it still being my daily driver? If anyone out there has any idea's on any of the problems im having and how to fix them you would make one vet really happy.
OOH ALSO I TOOK THE IAC AND UN PLUGGED IT WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING AND IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE IS THAT NORMAL OR AM I HAVE A COMPUTER PROBLEM TO?

Engine related issues should throw a code for your year. Any CEL? I own renix so I'm not the best person to make suggestions. I would check trans fluid. Make sure it doesn't smell burnt and is at proper level. Hopefully someone else can chime in with other suggestions.

Well it sounds like you had the torque converter unlock and then lock when you got on the gas. I'd check that trans fluid. Rough idle is a diff story. Could be the TPS causing it all. May want to check it with an analog meter.
Does the problem duplicate itself at a certain point of throttle?

I would replace the TPS sensor... it doesnt always trip a code when it is acting up... It could just need to be cleaned as that was the case in mine a couple times

You can't. Best to replace it. High failure rate item.
If you wanna try something else first, try adjusting your TV cable at the throttle body. Sorry I don't have a link to that 20 second procedure but I'm sure someone will post it up for us.
