I sent an email.
I did a brief browse of the part-out threads, but I got a little intimidated.
Time to start making lists, I think. Incidentals I need that I might've forgotten, or just don't know about because I've never done any of this before. Stuff like the brake cleaner for cleaning the valve cover.

Managed to get the quick connect tool a user posted a picture of earlier in this thread. Hopefully, I didn't accidentally get one intended for a completely different type of quick connect on a completely different kind of car.
It looks the same, at least.
Also discovered exactly how disappointing auto parts stores can be after looking at parts online. Although I'm glad they're nearby--with ZBoard range--in case I forget and need one more little thing.

Fan and shroud ordered. Debating whether or not to get two new radiator hoses.
After this, it's all waiting, reading, and trying to track down instructional Youtube videos.

Get some new hoses, that way you have nothing to return for in that area for the next several thousand miles. After you're all done with this whole saga, you really want a break from maintenance..

Since I'm also doing the heater control valve [not getting rid of it, just replacing it], should I replace those hoses, too? If so, are they bulk or molded. How much/how many are there?

The last few boxes are due tomorrow, and we're supposed to have good weather over the weekend. I'll spend a couple more days reading and re-reading everything I can to make sure I have it down. I'll have the forum and everything else available to me.
And I'm still not up to the estimate the mechanic gave me when they did the brakes.
I expect I'll be back under the hood fairly soon after this, doing something else, or checking what I did [or just basking, if I did everything right].
I know I have to fix that rear wiper eventually. Eventually. After I'm sure nothing's going to just explode from getting too hot.
Thank you. You've all made an initially intimidating list of issues seem doable to a complete novice.
And you didn't tell me to check the blinker fluid, or to make sure and change the battery filter.

If you haven't ordered a Viscous Clutch yet, here's a source.
Viscous Fan Clutch from NAPA:
http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...318_0366614965
Fan Blade to Clutch Bolts, part number 6034860 (does apply to '95 XJ) -you need 4 each:
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/bolt-an...r-6034860.html
Viscous Clutch to AC Comressor bracket clutch mount nuts - You need 5/16-18 Keps nuts. See pic. I recommend you get and use new nuts. The lock washers on the ones you have now may be worn out. You can buy Keps nuts at the hardware stores, like Lowes.

Fan Shroud:
I suggest that when you get your shroud that you dry fit the shround on your radiator (install without fan blade/clutch installed) to see if it will fit next to the electric fan you have. If you are getting a new electric fan, install it and dry fit the shround next to it.
Viscous Clutch/Fan Blade/Shroud installation:
I found when I installed my combo, if I installed the Serpentine Belt, then installed the Fan Blade and Viscous Clutch to the AC Compressor Bracket mount first, then taped the shround in place over it, I could install the radiator without struggling with the shroud and fan afterwords. It's a PITA trying to install a shroud/fan when the radiator is installed, and the radiator can be easily damaged trying to do this.

I doubt that you new radiator will have insulators with it.
When you get your old radiator out you may find that the two insulators on top of the radiator are ate up with corrosion (like mine were).
If you can't salvage your old insulators by derusting and painting them you can get new ones from many sources (Google "Insulator 52002585").
Here's some on ebay. You'll need two each.

Don't lose the tiny nuts and washers that secure the insulators to the radiator and to the radiator cross member.
Edit: Just found out on another thread that Summit Racing has the isolators for alot less.

A tip for installing radiator and heater hoses:
I used a product called Faucet and Valve Grease when installing radiator hoses and heater hoses. I applied a thin film of the grease on the water pump and thermostat housing hose nipples, radiator hose nipples, and heater hose nipples, to aid in a smooth installation of the hoses. Absolutley no leaks from the hoses after install.
Many months later after I replaced all my hoses (and using this grease), I pulled my engine for rebuild and the hoses came off real easy.
Here's a pic of the product. You can get it in the plumbing section of Home Depot or Lowes.
Note that it Prevents Rust and can be used on Hot Water or Steam components to 350 Degrees F.

I would get bulk 5/8 and 3/4 heater hose from NAPA or Oreilly's. Get about 4 ft of each and you will be ok. If you get prestone antifreeze, I find Wall mart has the best price. You should get a gallon of distilled water and make a 50/50 mix for your overflow tank(clean it out before filling it.)
