How important is the steering stabilizer?
Hello all. Long story short my XJ was crashed into Saturday night as is quite damaged but moveable after I fix the tie rod and steering stabilizer. The long hollow tube that connects the tie rods bent upwards which bent the stabilizer. I'm going to take the tie rod tube to work and sraighten it out as best I can just to be able to drive it back and forth the 2 miles to work so I can work on it but how necessary is the stabilizer at the moment just to slowly move it back and forth the couple of miles each day it needes to go?

For 2 miles? Not that important. When you get the time/money - it's a really easy job though. The Moog "oem" stabilizer is actually a whole lot beefier than the stock one, and was only like $40 and took maybe 15 minutes to swap out.
Also I'm still interested in the injectors, but some things have come up (got talked to about working on the trucks in my apts), but I can use my friend's driveway down the street - but for now I need to get a few other things done first (alternator and stupid wiper motor issue) - but I feel bad for not getting back to you. It's just going to have to get pushed off for awhile yet =/

Im currently sitting at 3.5 inches of lift with stock track bar. The steering stabilizer will help prevent death wobble. When you are aligned properly you dont need it. Im a little missaligned at the moment as my jeep pulls right. But ive only had 2 cases of death wobble after replacing most of my front end except the track bar and they were going about 40-50 mph over a road I should have probably only been doing about 30 mph.
Some may say you need it. I dont think you do.

I put a new one on, but only because it was free. With proper tire balance, suspension geometry and alignment. A steering stabilizer isnt needed. Only a "band-aid" for death wobble.
Once you get your Death Wobble figured out, Ive heard if you run one, it should be replaced due to over oscillation.
