Pull the ebrake put the selector in 1 without the engine running and get in back seat and pull as hard as you can,and don't bust your self in the face

So I got the old one off but the one I want to put on it wont work. The one I want to put on it is the shifter **** off a yj wrangler 5 speed that just threads on. This one won't work cuz it won't push in that little button is there is a way to make it work?

No way that I know of for sure since you need that button to be locked so you don't accidentally move into a different gear

You have to have one with the button to unlock the shifter unless you bypass it somehow.

I tried to make a new handle/**** out of an old grenade and gave up, too much work for such little gain. Good luck!
