Default How to check heater blend door

Hello all,

How do I check the heater blend door on a 96? I get warm air out of my vents but not hot. I've changed the coolant and put a new thermostat in (Mopar 195). I did not do a flush. Operating temp is normal. I'd prefer to start with the simplest thing before jumping to heater core problems.

I did a search and found a few threads similar to what I'm asking. A lot of replies say this has been covered before but I can't find any old threads on it.

Thanks guys

If you want to start with the simplest thing first as you say. Start by back flushing the heater core since that is the most common reason for no heat !!

It's a cable with a clip on it kinda up behind where my pointer is in the pic.

thank you for actually addressing my question not as though the other advice isn't helpful. so as long as that moves completely from one side to the other when the temp slider is moved it should be working as expected, correct?

i've been trying to address this heat problem for a bit longer than i'd like. thought i fixed it by swapping in an OEM t-stat which helped for sure but on these 8 degree days we've been getting it doesn't blow as warm as it should. i'm comparing it to my 95 xj which blows ridiculously hot.

Correct. Heater core is probably dirty then.
