Getting ready to go on a trip with the family on Friday in my '91 XJ. Just a quick question before I go.
My driver side front tire has a small leak somewhere. I have to refill once a week, going from 32 psi to around 22-24 psi, and this is with commuting 50 miles highway mon-thur and city driving fri-sun. With this small of a leak, could I get away with deflating the tire and using that tire sealant? Because honestly I tried to soap method and can't seem to find the air leak anywhere. Thanks for the help guys.

How about taking it to a tire shop and having them isolate the leak and repair before your trip? Won't cost much.
I would do that before using sealant.

Try submerging the tire in the bathtub, soap won't always work on a slow leak. I am also against the sealer stuff. Any tire shop will fix it for $20. Some shops charge extra to clean up the gunk, also. Sealer can affect tire balance also.
You are nuts if you take your family on a trip on a tire thats not 100% right. Take it to a tire repair place, it cost like 20 bucks. What do you think it will cost if it goes flat at 65mph on the highway? Never use that sealer crap, NEVER.

sounds to me like you have a rim leak it has with al rims you have to clean the rim were the tire bead sits and then put tire rim sealer on it... and then you have to re balance it...

if your wife kills you for fixing a tire that is going to be carrying her for a family trip you need to work on your explanations of what you are doing...and clean up when you are done

Guys, no worries. I'm taking it to a shop tomorrow. Maybe I looked wrong, but oh well. It will be known tomorrow morn. Thanks for the help!
If you kill her and your family because you are too cheap to spend 20 bucks to make sure a tire is safe that is going to be carrying her for a family trip you need to work on your priorities.
