Default Can't get distributor rotor off?

Sorry if this is buried in a post somewhere but I've been searching for a while and can't find anything. Everything I've read just says to remove it and the service manual doesn't provide much in the way of guidance. Do I need to rotate it or something or push on it? Tried everything I could think of and couldn't get it to budge. Based on the new one I have it looks like it just slides off and on. Do I just need to pull harder?

Ok thanks! Yeah I was worried about bending/breaking the rod. I'll give it another shot this afternoon

I'm guessing you mean the roter?

Spray some pb blaster on it. Put a shop rag around the base of the shaft to keep it from getting in your distributer. It'll pull right off after a minute or so.?

Yes the dist shaft, and yes it is a 98 so has dist, not coilpacks. Been away for work so haven't had a chance to tackle this again yet, but thanks for the info guys.
