For accuracy sake or "lack there of" -- I will refer to the temp gauge as low, mid, and high. 100deg being "low", 210 as being "mid point", and 260 as being "high". My degree pointer is a few degrees to the left of the mid point, which may not be exactly 190deg.( I shoudn't have said an exact number in the earlier post)
What i was trying to get across is that I am staying below the 210 "mid point" after i was able to get as much air as possible out of the system. I know that the degree pointer is not very accurate and i have not shot the system with a temp gun.
I do not recall if i installed a 195 degree thermostat or the 180degree the last time that i replaced it.

Update to my overheating uphill.
My temp seems to be running normal now after much work. Normal being 200* around town and 215*-220* on long inclines at highway speed. Some things I believe to be true.
1) Air in system. I found my overflow tank cracked and empty. Quite likely sucking air into the radiator. Installed new overflow tank and I burped the radiator with the heater on.
2) Too much anti-freeze. I changed it to 60% water.

My water level in the overflow tank has not changed in the last 6 weeks, I'm not making any smoke, and there is no discoloration in the oil.

Best regards,
Jason

Do u check at different times......when hot or cold? Coolant level should be at a slightly higher level when hot vs cold.

Glad you found some of the problems to your cooling system. Also, thanks for giving feed back. Maybe this will help someone else in the future that is having similar problems.
