Hey guys, looking for a little insight and help here. Just picked up my Cherokee Friday and considering it's a 96 and has 167K miles and I know of only about 3 things the previous owner has done, I'm looking to do a nice tune up to make sure it's running about as good as it can be. Also, he was kind enough to not give me the owners manual for some reason so I don't know any of the OE fluids or anything like that so...basically looking to do the following and asking you experienced people recommendations for brands, OE or aftermarket etc..
Looking to do...
-spark plugs (brands and also factory gap spec or a better gap)
-Coil pack?
-Oil change (doesn't seem to leak any. What's OE for these? High mileage syn a good idea?, and what filter you guys using?)
-replace trans, front and rear difs (again, recommend a good gear oil?)
As well as clean up battery terminals, clean throttle body and new air filter. Brakes seem fine and don't show much wear, newer shocks and struts I know of, also a new water pump and thermostat as well.
So if you'd be all kind enough to recommend some good products or point me in the right directions with some links it would be hugely appreciated or even more suggestions that would be great.
Thanks,
Nick

Well oil will very with everyone on here. I run castrol 10w 40 and a wix filter. WHat tranny do you have? I also run champion plugs. O and what motor do you have?
I have heard champions plugs run the best in 4.0's. The gap is .35.
You can use high mileage oil if you want. I use whatever is on sale. Mainly 10w 40. You will find that the 4.0 is a very dirty running engine. I wouldn't do synthetic.
Trans is regular transmission fluid and the difs are just regular gl-5 unless you have a limited slip.
Ditch the factory intake and get a cai.
I dont really use anything special in my jeep. Just do regular oil changes and maintenance and she will run forever.

So after doing some research here and otherwise I found some decent info just wanted to double check with you guys since this is all new to me.
-Oil seems 10w-40 is best
-Transfer case (I have the NP231) DexIII although I came across inconsistencies in the amount to fill, some read 1.0l, others read 1.4?
-Front dif uses 1.5L of 75w-90 gear oil, rear uses 1.2L of 75w-90 or 140 if towing? Is the 140 more beneficial even if I'm not towing?
Apologies for the all noob questions. Just trying to familiarize myself with these a bit more before I start draining vital fluids
