Default Help needed

Hello I have a 96 Cherokee and a while ago the jeep started acting up when it would rain. It would try to stall out and sputter, just act unusual. I checked to see if water got into the air filter, on the spark plugs and everything looked good and it would only do this when it would rain. Finally the jeep wouldn’t turn over. I still had power inside so I knew it wasn’t the battery so I checked the starter sure enough that’s what it was. Once I changed the started it ran perfectly even in the rain but in the last few weeks it has started to do what it was doing before. Does anyone have an idea of what could be going on. Thank you in advance.

Check your coil, I had one that had cracked and everytime it rained it would arch against the frame rail, causing no starts, cutting out, etc.

Also check the connection to the coil. It can get loose. Also check your battery connections and cables - BOTH ENDS of the cable.

By the way, this is an arch:

Well, some people have really fragile egos, and would rather go through life being wrong, rather then ever being corrected. I don't get it myself - I always want to learn when I'm wrong, but that ain't everybody, I guess.

The old book of Proverbs says that if you correct a fool, he'll hate you, and if you correct a wise man, he'll love you. Must be true - I see it all the time.

Hey, you had the option to just learn from it. I didn't call you a fool, or say you were stupid, or anything of the kind. I just provided some information, and you decided to start calling names.

My apologies to scout, I got away from what is important, and that's getting your jeep worked out. good luck to you. Hope you get it resolved.
