Default riddle me this....

so on 12/14 i went up to evans. i made it about 6/8ths of the way up the 102 and my truck bogged out and died. wouldnt start when i was pulled through to the end of it. i checked fuel, had great fuel, checked spark, had spark, took the airbox off, still nothing. starter was turning it over and still nothing. ended up getting pulled down to the Y and tried there. started up just fine. WTF?

Is it possible you could have gotten water inside the distrbutor? What were you doing when and just before it died and wouldn't start? Water inside the distributor means no spark. As soon as said water dries up or evaporates you get spark like a champ. Just an idea.

If this happened you could still have the appearance of good spark but not good enough to make the engine run.

thats true. it was snowing and there was plenty of water around. possible that that could have happened. also found my downpipe right after the header is squished and pinched. so i need to replace that and id gain some power back.

that is very possible. i will check the seal on my distributor and see if water may have gotten in. i just assumed it was the altitude for some unknown reason. thanks buck...........

Hey no worries Buddy. Anytime! I've seen some wierd things happen to my sons 87 RENIX and my 91 HO over the 6 years we've owned them. The craziest things make them quit running......and even crazier things make them start running again. Like what happened to you sometimes it is nothing more than a short rest and they fix themselves....LOL....damn moody Jeeps!!! I do know 2 things these 4.0 litre Jeep motors like to keep running good: 1.) Good clean dry breathing both on the intake and exhaust sides. 2.) Clean and dry electronics. Getting water in the intake or in the electronics can cause all kinds of strange gremlins. You'll definitely want to get that crunched exhaust fixed. Just going from the stock 1.5" exhaust to the 2.5" and FM I have now made an unreal difference in the amount of power. If I'd ever get around to spending the money to buy a 99+ intake and an aftermarket exhaust header I'm sure my Jeep would run even better.

There is no cable going to the nss.

And no way to bypass it. Google "nss clean"
And get to work.

Your shifter cable. Not attached to the nss. The nss is on the other side of the trans.
