Help me fix my car
i have a 4.5 lift jeep cherokee with 33inch mickkey thomsan baja mud tires. I was wondering what else i need to put into my car to make it run good. My steering a lot of play in it,also whenever i turn it makes a popping noise and it feels like my wheels go back and while i am driving it. I dunno if i should put more into like over the knucle steering conversion kit or put smaller tires on it. Also i just cut out my fenders and i was wondering what i should put on the exsposed sheet metal. i sprayed it with rustolium and i was thinking about getting this stuff called rust bullet.

agreed popping is probably a bad axle ujoint. There is one at each wheel. Grab ahold of the axle on each side of the joint and twist. If there is any movement at all, the joint needs to be replaced.

Love the diagram Dukie - Seriously! I wish someone would do that with the whole XJ.
I still remember getting that first repair manual, peering under the hood and going alternator, alternator, alternator, what the heck is an alternator?
Improved a bit since then, but everything's relative.

Replacing Axle Joint
Is it hard to rplace your axle u joints? Are MY stock dana 30 and dana s5 axles strong enough for 33inch mud tire or do i have to upgrade my axle. And is it recomended to put a yoke eliminator kit on with my 4.5 inch lift kit?

Not terribly, but more difficult than a driveshaft u-joint.
Should be safe at 33s, but it depends on what you do off road and how you drive it. You can snap those on stock rubber if you try hard enough.
Recomended? Yes. Always necessary? No.

I run 36" iroks on mine, backroads/highway/mud/climbing, they are holding up still. Had 37's on them for about 2 months, rubbed going over train tracks so went down a inch. I have had tires >35" for 4 years. No axle problems yet.
