Help help help tea kettle wistle
so i have my jeep at the 5th mechanic, i have a 2000 jeep cherokee sport. when u start driving after a minute it makes a tea kettle wistle sound...it goes away when you give it gas but appears when you let go. he hooked up to the vacuum and read 19-20 pounds so it doesnt appear to have a leak. jeep told me there is a vacuum tree and one of the hose goes bad. does anyone know where that vacuum tree is? someone else said maybe the intake manifold gasket. thats a 500 dollar fix so if i do that and it doesnt help i will go crazy!! any ideas ? PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME

connecting a vacuum gauge to a engine will not tell you if theres a leak,...lol... you wann find it heres they way get a short pc of heater hose or garden hose around three feet works great start the xj take one end stick it to your ear take the other end start moving it around the engine when you hear the noise the loudest see what there be care full around the moving parts....

Spray the motor down with starting fluid while it idles, if it changes how it's running at any time you have a vacum leak in the area you were spraying.

A vacum leak can be between the head and the intake, or a cracked hose, there are millions of places for air to leak In not just vacum lines...

I use a spray bottle of water. Spray a mist around EVERY possible vacuum leak area. You'll find it eventually, but you have to put in your time. This is something we can't help you a lot with online.

yes its the 4..0...and idk where the heater box is...its hard to tell wehre it exactly comes from but im starting to think its an intake manifold gasket...is there any way to check that wtihout spending the 500 to replace it and hope for the best???? this mechanic believes its a vacuum line but i strongly believe its the gasket
