"mud looking stuff in rad" ouch! that sounds like oil in your coolant. Could be cracked head or flailed head gasket. A compression and leak down test may confirm what happened.

yup. thats not mud in yer radiatur. that would be olier. i would do a teardown of your head and you will either find one of two things. a cracked head, or bad gasket. check the cap for your oil fill. is there a white foam on it. if there is then you have coolant in your oil. teardown commense

Looks really rusty and like it was sludge built up in the rad. The i dont loose any antifreeze that i know of. I think i will go get a prerssure tester. My oil pressure is normal and my oil looks normal. What is the leak down test?????? It is a 99 cherokee 4.0 I6.

That sludge will cause the symptoms you are describing, a Serious rad flush is in order, mabye replace it. You can drain the radiator and run CLR through it, several times, I would replace water pump, thermostat, and hoses.

flush the radiator by putting you a/c on HEAT. to open up the heater core. open your radiator valve and put a cold water hose in the radiator through the fill zone. turn your jeep on and let it clean it out. run it clear as many times as you can. then run coolant in untill it runs that color.
