Heater Woes
I have a '94 Cherokee, and the blower motor only works on high. Now i'm no dummy, so I pulled out the switch and found that it and the wiring to it had melted due to crummy connections. I replaced the switch but before I did so, I took a jumper wire and energized the wires going to it individually and all the speeds worked for the blower. Now with the new switch and repaired wiring, only high works still. Can't be the resistor as I tested it as I said above. Any thoughts???

Check the blower motor resistor! When they fail, it defaults to the high setting. So the only thing that will work is high. I do about 30-40 of these a year, and it has never been anything but the resistor pack, and possibly a melted connector going to it.

I do not know of a proper way to check them, they will still have the proper resistances in each resistor. But there is a diode (I think) in there that goes. The part is like $20 and I always just throw one in when a customer comes in with heater only on high, I don't even bother bringing them in the shop anymore.

Right, i tested the resistor already and it's fine. If i energize each wire individually at the back of the switch, I can get all the speeds so it's not the resistor

I'm kinda thinking I got a defective switch. I've got a 4 position toggle switch i'm gonna hook up and see what happens. It'll be easy since i had to cut off what was left of the connector and put spades on instead.
