Heater doing odd things....
Sorry if this has been covered but I have searched and could not find an answer to my exact issue. My heat is hot still so thats not the poblem, the problem is its ONLY hot when am driving....as in moving. When I come to a light, parked, or whatever it cools back down. Its not a huge issue but in the mornings when ice is on my windshield I can't defrost it....until I am driving. Any ideas guys? Thanks

I just drove it down the street and back and the "check guages" light came on and the temp is at 260....but it bounces around some. Does this sound like an internal temp guage gone bad? Maybe that can explain the heater?

You guys are correct, it was super low on coolant. I filled it back up and the heater and temp are doing what they should now....and checked for any obvious signs of leaks and see nothing.....guess I am just baffled at why I ran sooo dry like that? Thanks for the input thus far.

It's a 2000 with unexplained coolant loss. Scary. Check your engine oil and see if it's milky looking.

^ This. Then do a search on the "0331" head. If you have not already cracked it, this should scare you into paying WAY more attention to your cooling system. You should NEVER, EVER EVER EVER, .... EVER... let your '00/'01 overheat.... ever.

So your sayng NEVER EVER? LOL Yea I agree though, with 2 kids under 4 and work etc I admit I havent been checking my fluid levels properly. I just did not expect it to lose coolant or overheat in the winter to be honest. The guage came on that my temps were too high and within 1 mile I added coolant so hopefully no damage was done. All excuses aside, I will be more on top of this because a cracked head does NOT fit into my budget!!!
