Default Heater core

I have a 2001 xj with a leaking a/c evaporator core but I also wanted to change the heater core at the same time , but all I can find are Aluminum heater cores . Do the Aluminum heater cores give a good heat because I take my xj to the snow and the heater works good now and I don't want to loss that .

I would say it would heat faster and give off at least the same amount, if not more heat, since aluminum conducts heat faster and easier, but it wont be noticeably more... maybe a digital thermometer would notice it, but I doubt it.

And on a side note... have fun with that project... not the funnest on our jeeps to do. Not difficult...just very time consuming.

Ya I know it's a big job that's why I only want to it one time . I will changing any part that is easy to change with the dash out . also cleaning , resealing all seals . and maybe adding a sound / heat barrier to the fire wall . so if you can think of any thing I might miss let me know .

Is this what you are looking for?

Its a Copper / Brass heater core. I see it's currently on back order until about the end of February 2020.

Wow, didn't know the XJ heater core was still available with this material. For sure would be my first choice, obviously others as well with the backorder problem....

Good catch MaskedMallard!

I'm planning to do the same job in the spring and am keeping an eye on availability of those copper heater cores. It seems Superior Cooling, or their supplier, makes them up periodically in batches and they sell out pretty quickly.
