Default Heater Control Valve

My 89' cherokee has the closed system which I just bought all new cooling parts, I would like to know how the heater control valve is suposed to face because it has an arrow and I have it pointing to the firewall.

Any pictures of a stock 89 heater control valve setup will be helpful.

So my question is, is this the correct way? In other words does this look correct to you.

Thanks man I was pretty sure I did everything right. But when I put the switch to "heat" next to "vent" it blows out the bottom? When it's on vent heat come out from the normal vents. Is this normal? I am trying to finish up the cooling system and I am flushing it out now took a few tries but with pure water it did not overheat, so I know once I put 50/50 I should be straight.

Heat on your feet. Vents out the dash will be warm if the temp lever is pushed into the red, cool if pushed into the blue..

Setting the unit to "heat" and turning the temp all the way to heat only works at feet. When I switch it to "vent" and turn the temp up to heat then it works fine out the regular vents.

.....so which dash **** actually activates the heater control valve, allowing coolant to flow to the heater core?

There is coolant flow to the heater core all the time EXCEPT when AC is selected, and then the HCV closes.

If a/c is selected, heat can't be added/mixed with the cold air by turning the temp ****?

If you've got a 98 you may not have an HCV. BTW, who ever wants to add heat with the AC on?
