Default Headlights wont turn off

Hey guys, I've been driving my new (to me) 92 Cherokee for about 3 days now and it hasn't givin me one issue. Now all of a sudden the headlights stay on even with the switch off. The only way I can get them to shut off is to turn the ignition to the on position. Once I turn the ignition on the lights turn off. Does this sound like a bad switch?

Nevermind. I wasn't aware that it had a headlight delay. They shut off automatically after 30 seconds.

I have a 2000 XJ just just started doing to same thing. It never did it before. I was thinking I have a bad switch also.

My 91 does the same thing every now and then, some times they will stay on for 30 seconds, sometimes they will not, i think mine has something to do with the key less remote, which of course i do not have..

The PO wrote down the code for me in the owners manual, but i have been to lazzy to go to the stealership and order one yet...

Ive noticed on my 99 that if you shut them off before engine the shut off right away, if you kill the engine first they stay on for a bit

it is indeed a headlamp delay, as mentioned, if you do not like it, you can pull the fuse for the delay.

If you turn the lights off before turning off the motor, no delay.

X2

I noticed mine right after I got it. One time I got out and they stayed on and another time they didn't. Pulled out the manual. They have a 45sec delay. To activate it simply cut the engine off then turn the headlights off. Kinda of a nice feature sometimes.

For mine it was the 25amp headlamp delay fuse. Under the kickpanel of the driver side. Found it on my 90.
