Default Guage Temp sending unit help

So I own two cherokees, an 88 laredo with all the bells and whistles and just bought an 89 base with a perfect body and interior with a 4.0 with only 150k on it, but my dilema I swapped the guage cluster so I could go from 2 guages to 6 and swapped in the oil pressure sending unit and the temp sensor in the radiator and the only guage that isnt working is the temp . . . Did I miss a temp sensor? The guage worked in the other jeep

The temp SENDER is at the driver's side rear of the head.

I read earlier that only the newer cherokees had them in the back of the head, I thought the renix only had it in the radiator? Ill have to check tom that would explain why its not working

I think you should have three. One for the ECU (low driver's side of the block), another for the gauge (rear driver's side up high), a third for the electric radiator fan (in the radiator tank).

Correct. A SENDER is for a gauge. A SENSOR is for the ECU or electric fan.

so ive looked at both jeep motors and the sensor looks exactly the same on both, would they look identical but be different? or is it probobly the guage? im gonna swap them anyways to rule out a bad sensor, let ya know if it worked when im done

You mean the temp SENDER at the back of the head?
