grinding when under load?

Default grinding when under load?

heard this tonight... i was turning up a hill and heard a grinding noise from the front. belt is tight. maybe torque converter? tranny shifts fine. also tried from a stop and only grinds if i step on it hard... any ideas?

is it a AWD? sounds like a wheel bearing.

standard 4.0L 4x4 with auto tranny... only does it when i hit the gas...

I would check the front wheel bearings.

check bearings, hubs, axleshaft ujoints, or ds ujoints.

really? sounds like something is sliping... gears or something but no lose of power

fan blade hitting the fan shoud or radiator? could be a bad engine mount or tranny mount. just something else to check while your poking around

hmmm... good thought, i noticed my motor mounts being a little worn a while back, just never got around to replacing them. i will check this tomorrow... thanks
