grindig noise in 4wd while turnning
Having issues with my 4wd on my 88 cherokee. While turning it jumps or feels like its catching on something my passenger u joint is good my driverside has been. Changed pinion. Bearings driveshaft u joints. Running 32 inch tires adjusted them to they won't rub while turning heck I'm clueless any ideas?

Well just to eliminate the simplest of the situations, you aren't doing this on pavement or another high-traction surface? Because with the 4WD engaged the front axle locks. When turning, this can causing skipping and jumping of the vehicle because of the lack of the ability for the front tires to rotate at different speeds around a turn.. Just to eliminate the first element..

The front in engaged and provides power but if its a stock diff ie hasn't had a locker installed than its still an open diff and they can rotate at different speeds. The issue here is likely just the u joints, you turn Sharp enough that they start to bind then release then bind again repeatedly

You sure your exhaust pipe isn't grounding out on the transfer case crossmember under load? If your motor mounts and/or trans/t-case mount are marginal, the extra stress could cause the exhaust to contact the crossmember.

How much snow? And locked vs open diff won't matter too much if this is JUST in 4WD, the front and rear driveshafts are locked by the tcase. On tight turns the front wheels follow a significantly different path than the rear ones, but since the shafts are locked they're being forced to turn at the same speed. Either it will bind up to the point where the tension releases and the front end will jump/grind/hop or you'll just break everything lol (dry pavement).
Happens to me in 4WD on snow in parking lots. Have you tried really loose gravel?
