Parked on street in front of house last night.
And 90 XJ Laredo broken into and steering column trashed.
Steering column trim broken on the side with the signal and tilt levers.
And key cylinder broken, key turns and unlocks the steering wheel.
But no crank/start.
Today was last day of a special training at work, so wife drove me to work.
Then she went back home and had Heep towed to a indy garage we have used for last 30+ years. After calling police who took report by phone and gave case number for insurance purposes. Liability ins only, but w $150.00 towing allowance.
I looked up parts at NAPA for cylinder and elec. So that shouldn't be a problem. The plastic trim is another story.
So anyone have a one they will sell??? If you do please email me.

But I am sorry to hear about your trouble. I hate knowing someone else was in my vehicle trying to take my stuff.

 

You gave me a bit of a start there. Coming from the Indianapolis, IN area, everyone here shortens our fair city it to Indy.

When you said you had your Jeep towed to the indy garage you used for the last 30 years, I initally thought > who the heck would tow their truck from Utah to Indiana?

Then I realized you must mean independent or something of that sort, not Indianapolis, suddenly it makes a whole lot more sense!

Sorry posted in wrong place. I will probably be asking for tech advise to get the damn trim on in future. Was dark this morning and had to get to work.
So no inspection of what total repair is going to involve.

 

dont know if it will work, but peter M in the thread No juice to starter that is active right now is willing to donate similar parts for the cost of postage, you might check it out.

 

Your gonna need the whole steering column, the same thing happened to my jeep
