I need to change out the differential fluid in the front and back.
I have the chrysler 8.25 in the rear and the dana 30 in the front (I think all XJ's have this axle in the front).

On the RTV, some people recommend blue, red, black, gray. Has anyone has any issues using one versus the other. I know that black is made specifially for differential use.

How many bottles do i need for the front, how many for the back? Will one tube of RTV get both axles? I guess that I am going to go with sythetic since most seem to recommend that If I can find it.
I loooove blue rtv permatex! I have used it for Intakes (v8) manual trannys thermostat housings difs and everything in between.. well things I don't want to come off easily... one tube should do you for both... I always live the look of blue rtv slightly oozed out. Reminds me of the good old days.. haha like 10 15 years ago assembling old school v8s with my pops

So blue won't break down with the sythetic gear oil if I use it?

Also, What do the differential bolts need to be torqued to?
Does threadlocker or anything like that need to be used on the bolts?

The colors of Permatex RTV are for different purposes

Ultra Black is for oily/fluid applications
Red is high temp
Blue is sensor safe
Grey is rigid/high torque

I use ultra black for almost everything

yup i used versachem mega black for my diffs.

wcjr the diffs bolts are to be torqued to 30 ft/lbs both front and rear. The fill plug in the front diff is to be torqued to 25 ft/lbs. Im not sure if it matter what year your jeep is or not. those specs are for the 98 xj

hey guys im putting in a new injector cuz i got the check engine light and i scanned it and it says misfire in cylinder 2. The cylinder counts from the back of the engine correct if your standing in front of the car?

Also got a question is there any spec for how tight the throttle cable bracket should be tighten to?

I found that fuel rail is: Install and tighten fuel rail mounting bolts to 11 ±3 Nm (100 ±25 in. lbs.) torque so thats what 8.3 ft/lbs ?

cylinders are numbered starting at the front of the engine

snug tight basically. Don't bother with a torque wrench

Do you have any PB blaster and a precision flathead screwdriver? If so spray some PB into the opening and let sit for a while. Then very carefully stick the precision into the opening and try to dig some of the crud out without damaging the lines.
