It's a little noisy in my 93 XJ but I don't know if I should be worried or not. It runs fine and it's not super loud or anything but you can hear it pretty good. I've heard that it can be a bad ballast resistor but mine looks fine and starts fine so I don't know.

 

They were never entirely silent. (when they are, that's when you have a problem, lol).
Did you pull the carpet in back by chance? That seems to amplify the FP, turning the back floor into a big resonator.

No I am not Flintstone but it was louder before and I changed the fuel filter and it was silent for about a week. And then it went to how it is now.

This is as good a spot as any to bring up a question, and maybe an answer. Is there a pin in the tank, and a socket on the pump assembly that should be fit on that pin before the lock ring goes on?

The first time I did mine I was on the side of the road laying in a puddle in the rain. (did not notice, or care about any pin). I pulled it some years later cuz the gauge sticks on 1/4 tank 1/2 the time. Working the float with it out, gauge read fine. Put it back, same result.
I wonder if it could buzz, make noise if that was installed, "just wrong", (almost touching)
