Default fuel/possible ASD problem. noob need major help

Ok....I have a 97 xj sport. Last week my jeep wouldnt start. And the key just spun in the ignition cylinder. Tore the steering column apart to find the ignition actuator broken. so I replaced the actuator and ignition switch. Now my jeep will crank but not start and I cant hear the fuel pump power up. I checked fuel and spark....I have spark but no fuel to the fuel rail. I then checked my pump relay....its ok. I then checked every fuse in the pdc and the junction box on the passenger side behind the kick panel. Every fuse is ok. I then unplugged my fuel pump to check power there. Im not getting any power to the fuel pump. I was told the ASD may be killing power to the pump. I have a Chilton for my jeep but it doesn't say anything about the ASD. How does it work? Is the ASD the issue? Please help. Havent had my jeep for a week.

The ASD relay is in the fuse/relay box under the hood. I think it is the same relay as the others around it, so you should be able to swap it with one of the others for testing.

On a long shot I already replaced it....nothing. still just cranks. No pressure to the fuel rail. Also....if I try to start it more than once.....the check gauges lite comes on.

That usually just means a gauge is reading something it shouldn't (Low batt voltage, no oil pressure, etc)

I'd start by testing resistance in the circuit between the relay and the pump.

I unplugged the fuel pump and checked for power. I have no power at the fuel pump plug.

Yeah, check for resistance to make sure the wire from the relay to the pump itself isn't broken. Anything above 5ohms isn't good. Also check for voltage at the relay itself while you're at it, if you haven't already.

Personally I would begin by checking power at the ignition switch first, since you had that all apart. Make sure you have all your ignition, acc, and start power where you should. Make sure no wires from the ignition harness are loose in the connector.

Then check power and ground to the ASD relay, it should power up when the ignition is turned on.

Then try unplugging your ECM and plug it back in after a half minute.

Let us know if you find anything
