Default Fuel injector leak

Hey everyone. I have a 1990 Cherokee Laredo 4.0 and on my way to work a couple of days ago I noticed a gas smell whenever I came to a stop. On the way home I smelled it constantly. When I popped the hood, I noticed I had 4 injectors leaking (not sure if it was from the fuel rail side or the head side). I popped the fuel rail off today and replaced all of the o-rings on the injectors. Everything seemed cool until this evening when that awesome gas smell came back with a vengeance. I checked the pressure on the rail and I'm showing 30 lbs (seems about right, I guess). All of the injectors are stock except 1 as far as I can tell. What else should I be looking? Am I missing something?

Definitely did that first. Still leaking on those 4 injectors. I moved them to other locations and they're still spraying gas.

I had leaky injectors too and it was the o-rings. I would buy a new kit. I bought one from napa and I have had no problems since. When you put the o-rings on did you greese them? They are suppose to slide right in with little force. I leaned that the hard way. Good luck.

Hey. Yeah, I added just enough grease to them to make them shiny. The popped right in with no problems.

So are you all saying I should get yet another set of o-rings for these guys?

Not me. The Renix injectors were prone to leaking at a crimp on the injector. Extreme fire hazard. Replace them. "programbo" here on this forum has upgrade replacements of a much better design and they are plug and play.

@cruiser - Thanks chief. Is this a normal thing for 4 of them to fail at the same time? I mean, it is 22 years old so I shouldn't be surprised.

Not necessarily abnormal. They probably all came from the same batch, are of the same age and have seen the same usage.

I'd try new o-rings first. If that doesn't help the are probably leaking at the seams. If thats the case then it's a good time to upgrade them.

Have had leaky injectors off and on for the last year, replace one o-ring and be sure the rest will need it too. I've heard it's best to replace all at once.Right now the auto shop wants 800 bucks for this little job, claiming all the injectors themselves need to be replaced.I'm a rookie so as of today I'm going out to try and pull some better looking injectors and purchase some new o-rings. U might be like me and just not be experienced enough to know what a good fuel injector looks like. Alternatively, you might try checking the pressure off the pump or and adjusting the idle, which I hear can cause the problem to begin with.Either wear and tear on the injectors and rings, or you have to solve the root problem which could be any number of fuel system related issues. I will let yall know what I figure out when I get mine to stop leaking all over the driveway.
