Default Front Sway Bar Bushing

I need to replace the bushings on the front sway bar. Autozone show's bushings to fit a 28mm, 26mm, or 22/23mm sway bar. What size do I need to get to fit my 99 Cherokee Classic 4wd? Thanks.

You need to rent (if you don't own one) a dial caliper and get a measurement of what size the sway bar is. Mine was 26 mm. But I've heard that they are not all the same.

They vary from year to year it looks like. You could probably get a pretty close measurement with a little bit of basic math and a measuring tape.

Or if you already tore it down take it with you to the parts store and they can measure it for you.

Yeah, you could use a piece of string, find out the circumference of the sway bar and then use that number to determine the diameter.

Circumference = Pi (3.14) x Diameter

Measure the circumference, divide by pi, and you have the size of the sway bar

Or use a crescent wrench as a caliper and then measure the opening......

I used to have to measure wire rope on my tow trucks. The supplier taught me that. Kinda like a hillbilly caliper isn't it?

It's kind of genius is what it is! Makes me regret ever spending $20 on a dial caliper that I have yet to use for anything else.

LOL. You'll use that caliper again for sure.
