Front shock nuts
Had to use a turbo socket to get the original nuts off the lower portion of the front shocks of my ‘96 XJ. I need replacement nuts and the originals are discontinued. I try and keep my truck as oem as I can.
Are the M8-1.25 nuts used just regular flanged nuts? Or were they a distorted thread locknut?
What type of replacement nuts would be good for this application regular flanged, nylock, or a jet nut?
Thanks!

I can't recall for sure but I think I used distorted thread, flanged locknuts. I matched them as close as I could to the OEM nuts that were buggered up.
I too am trying to keep my XJ OEM as much as possible.
We have a local hardware store (old school) that has several aisles full of drawers of fasteners. I have been very fortunate in finding pretty close to exact replacements as I work on bringing my Jeep back to factory configuration.
I will be able to replace all the fasteners for my factory front toe hooks with the exception of the torx through bolts. Those I will restore and reuse.

Lot of times I will just use a bolt and washer for a flange head bolt in the appropriate size and gauge.
I did find that with the torx bolts for the tow hooks that my thread restorer tool did not go that big.
And the original nuts did not really want to thread on as easy as I thought they should.
But new nuts threaded on just fine.
Used a washer and just cause I could threw in a lock washer too.
In the appropriate grade of course.
