Default replace front shocks

I have a 94 Sport 4x4 and I am trying to replace my front (originaly installed) shocks. The only issue is the nut on top is rusted over. I soaked it with penitrating lube and nothing, the top half of the shock keeps spinning. I know there is another nut on the underside, but its surrounded buy the bushing. Is there any tips or tricks that anyone knows of?

If your going to trash the old shocks just use a pair of vicegrips .. lock on and enjoy!

Take a Dremmel and cut the nut off, or put a socket on the nut with a long extension and pull back and forth until the stud breaks. I would try the first suggestion though.

This worked for me, along with a nice air-impact wrench on the top nut. It is ok to waste the old shock, it has done its job.

I used to take an extension and socket and purposely snap them off; often they wouldsnap off not below the nut but JUST above at which time the nut would unthread right off. and yes there is no reason to be gentle with your old dead shcks they are shot anyways.

Clamp the top half somehow and break that sucker off. There is no nut on the underside.
