So what do you do to remove these from the darn engine bay? when you take a ratchet to the top shock tower nut the top portion of the shock rotates with it...... How do you guys do this, a vice grip on the bottom or split the not on top? I swear nothing goes as planned on these lol

Try vice grip on the top of the shock and wedge it somewhere to keep from rotating while you turn the nut?

I had some issues with mine when putting my lift on, having someone hold the shock body could help and make sure it has been poked in pb. If that doesn't work I would just use a nut splitter

If you soak it in PB overnight, and keep it wet, because thats when it works best, Vice Grips on the rod, and thats how I do it. PB is good stuff, but it don't work in 60 seconds....

i used a small pair of vice grips on the top of the stud and then used a wrench on the nut.

Or you can just cut the bolt thing off if you are planning to throw them away

If your replacing shocks you can grind a flat spot on the chrome rod and use a wrench to keep it from spinning.

use a deep socket and a long extension, rock it back and forth until the top of the shock breaks off. should take you about 10 seconds or less.

Yep. Use a 6 point if you have it. Usually bending the shock rod a few times each way will do the trick. A torch works well too-just make sure you don't light the vehicle on fire.

vice grips and WD-40... give me a break! you need to get the Sawz-All out. go Mad Max on that rod. (just beware of the pressurized cylinder)

Seriously though grips and PB overnight you'll be set.
