Default Front hub question for XJ

I am to the point in updating my XJ that I want to replace the front hubs. Even though they are quiet and smooth they have over 100,000 miles on them. My question is, there is a huge variation in price - is there that much difference in quality? There are all the no name brands that are cheap then MOG in the midrange and Dorman at the top of the range. I don’t mind buying the expensive ones but it just means less money to spend on other goodies.

I asked the same thing a few years ago. General consensus is "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Actually 100K isn't a lot on them. They're not that hard to change out if one or both should need it. Also at least back then I was told replacements don't last as long as originals. When and if I need to replace mine I'll probably go with Timken.

I would avoid Dorman and Moog, get Timken or if you want cheaper the TRQ brand from 1Aauto has been working good for me and they have a lifetime warranty.

I'd leave em alone. The originals are better than C>R>A>P> Chinese Replacement Auto Parts.

Lifetime warranty sucks if you have to change it 2 or 3 times a year. They cover the part but not the labor. Moog used to be good, but there's a company in Indonesia that makes a perfect copy and you can hardly tell the difference. Even the BOX is the same!

I havent had to change mine out yet in 2 years, and it takes less than an hour to change if you do have any issues.

I would also not change them unless I could detect wear

The cheap ones are proven to be hopeless

I have been told to only use Timken if replacing them

Same topic as OP..... for those of us that have lower mileage XJs.... even though they are still older now.... is there any recommended maintenance even if not replacing parts? Like places to re-grease/lube?
Like the op.... I only have barely 100k on mine too...but still that grease is 21 years old now. I'm not the orig owner but I'm pretty sure parts like those on mine have never been apart since new.
