Default Front differential fluid milky

So i am changing my gasket on my front differental and when i opened it up all of the oil inside was a thik milky brown solution. Is this bad? should i get my gears checkout out? This is the first time i have done this and it seems like maybe water just got in but i dont want to leave it to chance and waist my time puting some gasket gew on it and filling it ful of oil just to have to take it back apart.
The picture is a little dark so the fluid looks a little darker than it is.

looks like water intrusion
if there are no metal shavings in the oil, clean it out and refill

check the vent line to make sure it is still there and mounted high enough

Clean the vent hole and just add a longer vent hose on it. Flush out the diff and check the bearings. Then refill with some good syn fluid

You can use brake cleaner but just make sure the bearings and everything is dry before you put it back together.
